Meet the new 'Pinoy Big Brother' housemates
Pinoy Big Brother, better known as “Kuya” to housemates and loyal viewers, finally opened his house to a new batch of 14 contestants last October 29. During the grand opening of the regular fourth season of ABS-CBN’s reality show “Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited” (PBB), hosts Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzales were joined by fresh recruits Robi Domingo and Martin Concio. (Former host Mariel Rodriguez has moved to TV5.) They welcomed the new housemates to the shanty-inspired makeover of the house of Kuya in the initial telecast dubbed “The Big Fiesta.” The 14 contestants were selected from more than 30,000 who auditioned. Among them are a fisherman and a tattoo artist. Housemate chooses PBB over SEA Games Jaz Manabat, 24, a model dubbed the “Sensual Siren of QC,” said, “Game na sa lahat! Andu’n na eh, sa tagal ng process, uurong pa ba ‘ko?” Tin Patrimonio, 20, daughter of basketball star Alvin Patrimonio, gets out of her comfort zone as she has yet to learn to mingle with other people. She is called “The Captain’s Daughter,” home-schooled so she can focus on being a tennis player. If she did not enter PBB, Tin would be competing for the SEA Games. Kigoy Abarico, 32, of Ormoc City, joined PBB to look for his two siblings. Kigoy ran away from home and now wants to improve himself and live a better life. Roy Gamboa, 29, of Pangasinan, is a salesman who didn’t want to let go of the opportunity to join PBB. He was in Manila when he heard about the auditions, but tried his luck in his hometown. Luz McClinton, 33, a bodybuilder, is tagged the “Mom of Steel of Muntinlupa.” She used to sell food and cigarettes on the street and is now a professional bodybuilder who wants to provide well for her family. Housemate seeks biological dad Pamu Pamorada, 19, of Batangas has been called the “Kitikiti Kid” because of her wacky antics. She said, “Makakasundo ko yung mga ka-level ko lang, probinsyano, bakla, foreign kahit hindi ako magaling mag-Ingles.” Joseph Biggel, 19, is half-German and half-Filipino but pure Pinoy in his heart. Joseph has worked as a fisherman and a make-up artist in a funeral parlor to finance the studies of his sibling. Kim de Guzman, 19, of Olongapo, named “The Stunning Sweetheart,” hopes to find her biological father. On the other hand, Paco Evangelista, 26, of General Santos wants to get to know himself more and start his life anew. Slater Young, 24, called “The Hotshot Engineer” of Cebu, thinks that he can practice being an older brother to his housemates. First openly lesbian housemate Cebu tattoo artist Divine Maitland-Smith, 20, called the “Darling Dude” is the first openly lesbian housemate. She wants to have fun that’s why she entered the house, but the British-Filipina wants to learn life lessons, as well. Seichang Ushimi, 22, from Japan and Kevin Fowler, 18, from California, were born and raised overseas but want to reconnect with their Filipino roots. Carlo Romero, 22, a lucky draw winner, is a retail sales consultant from Chicago. In one of the first few challenges, housemates were asked which basic necessity they wanted to have an unlimited supply of, but with corresponding consequences. “PBB Unlimited” airs after “Nasaan Ka Elisa,” while “PBB Unlimited Updates” airs during “Maria La Del Barrio” and “100 Days to Heaven” on ABS-CBN.
